Mackenzi Rae Nash- Welcome to the world

Mackenzi was born today! I started having contractions yesterday around lunchtime. Kenny and I were at the mall running errands, I wouldn't let him take me to the hospital until I had finished shopping. The check out lady at Target almost died when she realized I was doubled over from the pain of a contraction! We drove to the hospital at 5pm when the contractions started getting closer together. Not a good time to be on Hwy 62! I was in labor for 12 hours, pushed for 30 minutes, and welcomed our baby girl with open arms at exactly 5:50am. She came 3 weeks early so her Bilirubin levels were very high. She had to spend 5 days on the bilibed, but other than that she was perfect!

Birth Date : 12/17/2005
Birth Weight: 6 lbs 2 oz
Birth Length: 18.5 in
Birth Time: 5:50 am
Birth Place: Fairview Southdale

The Honeymoon

We honeymooned in the Poconos at a couples resort. The whole week was geared towards couples on their honeymoon...it was so much fun!!! We stayed in a very romantic 3 level suite with our own pool and champagne glass tub. Every morning there was an itinerary on our doorstep, it was a dream come true for me. Kenny won the Ping-Pong tournament, he shines his trophy every day.

The Wedding

We were married on July 31st, 2004.

Brit's Wedding Day memories:
Getting my hair and make-up done with the bridesmaids and looking at myself in the mirror with my veil on.
Stopping at JoAnn Fabrics on the way to the church to pick up a few things
Finding out my girlfriend told Kenny to open his "Groom Gift" without me, and missing his reaction to his fancy new massage chair.
Walking into my bridal suite at the church and seeing all the beautiful decorations my sister's friends had surprised me with!
Trying to eat chocolate without getting it on my dress.
Waiting for Kenny to come see me in my dress for the first time!
Opening my "Bride Gift" from Kenny...a cell phone. I was torn between going off to play with my new phone and getting married!
Taking my last deep breath as a single girl before walking down the aisle.
Seeing Kenny at the end of the aisle waiting for me!
Singing praise songs during the ceremony.
Lighting everyone's candles and hoping we didn't start the church on fire.
Saying my vows
Asking Kenny if we should run after we were finally announced husband and wife
Getting in the hot old car with no AC Kenny had rented for us...his only job!
Waiting for Kenny to finish puking from heat exhaustion before going into the reception.
Cutting the cake
Family speeches
Dancing forever

First House

We bought our first house in July 2004. We looked at a hundred townhomes with our realator before accidentally walking into our future home in Eden Prairie! We couldn't stand the white walls, so we painted every room a different color. Our plan was to live here for 2 years and then make the transition into a house. We had no idea we would someday raise 3 children in our 2 bedroom townhome!

The Proposal

Kenny and I spent the night at my brother's house, and when I woke up the next morning, he wasn't there. Next to the bed was a note telling me to go downstairs and press play on the VCR. My heart skipped a beat as emotions ran through my whole body! It was a video of Kenny telling me that 'Tonight is the night' (our favorite song!) and that I had one hour to get ready and have breakfast. After getting ready, I went out to the car where I found my next message! It was directions to the Eden Prarie mall and $100 to buy a formal dress! SWEET. I was told I had one hour to find the dress (that was stressful!) and to be back at the car by 11:15. I found a pretty white dress, nice jewelery, and the perfect shoes...and I still had money left over, mom should be proud! I got to the car right on time and found McDonalds money for lunch (my favorite place!) and a gift certificate to a day spa. I ate lunch quickly, and found myself wishing I could be eating lunch with Kenny! My time at the spa was wonderful I had a massage, a manicure, a facial, and my hair done. Every time one of the ladies told me to relax, I laughed...not possible! After being pampered all day I found my next message telling me to put on my dress and drive to his mom's house. The drive there seemed to take forever! When I got there, he was waiting for me all dressed up with a rose and a sweet kiss! We got in his dad's BMW 740i (SWEET CAR!) and headed off on our next adventure. He handed me a gift, and I couldn't help but wonder how he managed to pull all of this off! It was a picture album filled with pictures from when we were young. The front cover had a picture of us when we first met and the date of our anniversary, April 22 2000. Under that was July 5, 2003 and a spot for us to put a picture of us getting engaged. I melted! He drove us to a beautiful garden on Lake Minnetonka where we walked around holding hands looking at all the beautiful flowers. He took me to a bench overlooking the lake where we cuddled for a while and talked about our dreams. Then he pulled me up, grabbed my hand, and got down on one knee! He told me how much he loved me and that our lives will be wonerful together and asked "WILL YOU MARRY ME?" I was amazed by how perfect the ring looked and before I said yes, I said "It's so beautiful"! He asked me for my answer and I said YES!!!! We hugged and kissed for a long time, I couldn't believe how right this felt! We took some pictures and walked through the gardens holding hands, this time we were engaged! He told me he had reservations for us at Cincaids but I talked him into Giani's instead! We had a wonderful dinner and started making phonecalls! After dinner he took me to our final destination...the EXECUTIVE SUITE at the Embassy Suite Hotel! It was AWESOME. We had 2 tv's and 2 showers! He had roses waiting for me when we walked in along with my favorite snacks and a personalized wedding planner. We relaxed for a while then went out for a movie. It was the perfect day, and I can't imagine being happier! He thought of everything, I'm the luckiest girl in the world! I love you Kenny

Where it all began...

I was talking with a girlfriend about our senior prom and who I wanted to go with. She told me about a guy she knew on the basketball team that was very sweet and wasn't ashamed of his faith in God. She set us up on a blind date just weeks before prom, and we arranged to meet at a local bowling alley. I went with the girls and he showed up with the boys, 90 minutes late!!! We talked about our passions, experiences, and hopes for the future. We immediately recognized all of the things we shared and were in awe of the amazing connections. We were born 10 days apart, we had both recently become Christians in non-religious families, he played on the basketball team while I danced during half-time, and he had gone to the same elementary school as my mother over 100 miles away. I excused myself to go have a chat with the girls in the bathroom and started feeling things in my heart I had never felt before. The first words out of my mouth were "I don't want him as just a prom date, I want him as a boyfriend!"

We exchanged numbers later that evening after it had been apparent that we had found a unique friendship. Being a typical male, he waited a day to call, allowing me time to find the meaning behind all of the crazy feelings. When he called, my heart skipped a beat. What would we talk about, did he even like me? Well, we talked well into the morning, 4 hours to be exact! But what we discovered towards the end of our conversation brought us both closer to God and reaffirmed our beliefs in fate.

My mother had grown up in Rochester, MN, and we spent many weekends visiting her family. On one occasion, I went to a local basketball game with a girlfriend. One of the guys on the team caught my attention, and I found myself watching him intensely. My girlfriend took the liberty of getting his phone number out of the roster book for me. We were only 15, this was normal! When I got home, I wrote the name and number on my bedroom wall, quite positive I would never do anything about it. Well I was somewhat right, I didn't do anything about it, but God sure did!

That first night on the phone I told him of that basketball game, and he laughed at the coincidence of the names being the same. Just for humor, I asked him what his phone number was; of course it wasn't the same! I thought to myself, he must think I'm crazy for even asking! Then he asked me what the number was, and after I read it to him, there was a long silence. That was his old phone number, he had moved!

From that moment, I knew that he had been sent to me for a reason. We spent a week getting to know each other, though we both felt we had known each other for years. We decided to start dating exactly one week after we met, and seven years later, we are stronger than ever! Most people think we are crazy, how could we date right out of high school? All I can say is that when you find a love as strong as ours, you can't possibly let it go. Dreams really do come true!
